Back by popular demand, the Howard Gospel Choir of Howard University returns this fall for a choral performance on Friday, October 3, at the First Presbyterian Church of Moorestown.  The entire community is invited to attend. Founded as the first collegiate gospel choir in the world, the Howard Gospel Choir (HGC) has earned a distinguished international reputation. The ensemble consists of over 70 members, including students, alumni, and community members, and is one of the largest religious organizations on Howard University's campus.

The choir’s rich history includes performances that span traditional gospel, church hymns, Negro spirituals, and classically arranged anthems. Notable past members include Grammy Award winners and R&B stars, who have helped shape HGC’s dynamic and powerful sound. They have shared the stage with legends like Stevie Wonder, Patti LaBelle, and Barry Manilow, and have performed for prominent figures, including President Barack Obama.

The choir’s mission remains to spread the message of Jesus Christ through music. The concert is free, and a free will offering will be collected. Please pay what you can. Attendees are also encouraged to bring nonperishable food items for donation to the Moorestown Ministerium food pantry.

Thank you for your support

A free will offering will be taken; donations are gratefully accepted.

For those who wish to support the choir but are unable to attend, donations payable to First Presbyterian Church may be sent to the church office. Please note "Howard Gospel Choir" in memo field.

Visiting Choir Dinner

Several volunteers are needed to help provide a dinner after the performance for the choir participants and their staff. If you can help, please contact Alison Mackey in the church office at 856-235-1688, Ext. 113.
